Our History in Australia
In 2011, Arch Reinsurance Limited (ARL) entered the Australian market with its first mortgage reinsurance transaction.
Arch LMI obtained regulatory approval from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) in 2019 and acquired Westpac LMI in 2021. It now operates as Arch Lenders Mortgage Indemnity.

Arch LMI as used on this website refers generically to our mortgage insurance operations in Australia. Arch’s mortgage insurance operations in Australia are conducted through Arch Lenders Mortgage Indemnity Limited (Arch Indemnity) (ABN 60 074 042 934), our licensed LMI insurer for Australia with an Australian Credit Licence 388077, and Arch LMI Pty Ltd (ABN 60 601 356 174), which acts as a service company for Arch Indemnity and holds AFSL 549020.
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has authorised Arch Lenders Mortgage Indemnity Limited as a lenders mortgage insurer.
